A late check-out reads like a small favour, so hosts answer it on instinct. The better answer comes from the room's next few hours: the next arrival, the cleaning window, and what the guest is actually asking for.
Water damage is decided in the hours after the leak, long before a claim form is opened. Stop the flow, shoot wide then close, and keep the record clean while the evidence still exists.
A power outage reaches you as a guest's message, not a dashboard alert. You can't fix the fault from another city, but the first hour runs on the calls you make and the message your guest gets.
A booking that lands for tomorrow isn't a scheduling problem. It's a decision you either made in advance or didn't. Three branches settle it: whether the room can be ready, whether the cleaner can say yes tonight, and what you tell the guest so expectations match.
Not every cleaner wants another app on their phone, and pushing rarely helps. The handover still has to arrive, and it still has to be provable. Choose a channel per person, then keep one record that shows the job was sent and done.
A flat shoulder-season discount treats a strong week and a dead week the same way. Last year's calendar already shows which was which. Read the weeks, build four rate bands from what your own bookings did, then review them when the same weeks come round again.
A commission change doesn't touch your cleaning fee directly — it moves the number you were pricing against. Resetting the fee is arithmetic, not a discount. Work backwards from the payout you want to keep, then check the guest's total from the other side.
Adding a second listing rarely fails on demand. It fails on the calendar, the cleaner and the cash you never set aside. This guide runs three checks before you commit money, sequences the launch so the first unit holds, and plans the exit while you still have options.
A host can be registered in one country, letting in a second, and storing guest records on a laptop in a third. The rule that applies is the one where the guest slept. That sentence explains most of what goes wrong, and the rest is about not moving data you never needed.
An OTA redesign moves the fields your rate-plan mapping points at, and it does so without telling you. This guide separates the three layers a redesign changes, gives a five-item check to run before the switch, lists what to capture before the old interface disappears, and sets out the three things to verify once the new one is live.
